Madagascar Files 1960-1972.

The records contain minutes of the second and third meetings of the Missionary Association of the American Lutheran Mission, some general reports of individual projects and stations, a report of Rolf A. Syrdal's 1960 trip to Madagascar, and scripts probably used to narrate films or filmstrips. Syrdal was the first executive director of the Division of World Missions of The American Lutheran Church. There is nothing to indicate who collected the records.

The American Lutheran Church (1961-1987) was formed by the merger of the American Lutheran Church (1930-1960), the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. Representatives from each of the constitutent churches formed the Joint Union Committee in 1950 to effect the merger. Presidents of the constituent bodies at the merger were Henry F.
